JaiBihar.com is a newly launched blog magazine by Bihari bloggers – all from diverse interests and backgrounds.

We started on August 15, 2008 and it really picked up very fast (we’re still in the beta-phase with our team working to add new features to the website). The traffic trends were encouraging and it was truly amazing to see the overwhelming support from visitors. So, we thought to shape it as a news magazine. JaiBihar.com is a magazine without paper. A collection of original journalism, analysis and opinion. Members of our team also post link-intensive musings, ramblings and other assorted writings.

Our authors often seek to inspire advocacy or citizen action. This venue can also serve as its own form of activism, a tool to spur action on issues that really matters. Without worrying about being “secular” or “communal”, our combined aim is to engage, motivate, and stimulate interaction of ideas and thoughts.

It’s difficult to produce an honest news story when you lie to do it. The national media and other vested agencies have been doing it for long. Every news that is about Bihar is “broken” to make it a “Breaking News”, constantly broadcasted on 24×7 TV channels and splashed across front pages of all prominent newspapers.

While Bobby Jindal, who converted himself to Christianity, is a darling of English language media for his political victories abroad, the triumphs of Sabita Singh (the first South Asian judge in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, US) has almost remained obscure in the main media. Its not Ajit Singh, a successful Bihari entrepreneur, that makes a good “news item”… instead, Lalu Prasad for all his strange antics, idiotic humour, bad jokes and cheeky commentary is projected as the “face” of Bihar. You don’t agree with them. Do you? Even we don’t trust them and piqued that all bad press is often directed at our people. A lot of questions can be raised about the neutrality of media, that has left no stone unturned to paint Bihar as a “damaged brand”. So here we are, to counter them with JaiBihar.com.

JaiBihar is about the need for a real independent media which is free not only from the clutches of the State but also from profit and commercial considerations. Our reporting will contain little or no “spin,” and can be seen as more trustworthy. As an alternative media source we vouch to provide you with a different (mostly dissident) viewpoint than that provided by major mainstream and corporate newspapers, magazines, TV, and other media vehicles.

We are one of the believers who think that the phenomena of democratic participation will change the face of media creation, distribution and consumption.

I’m quite an eclectic mix. Independent….yet have enough faith to depend on those I love. Strong….yet compassionate. Kind….but not gullible. Complex… yet simple. A mix of traditional and modern. Crazy…but not psychotic. I’m a neurotic person in the sense that I have too many thoughts in my head. Even when I go to sleep, there are thousands of thoughts buzzing around.

I adore my family and close circle of friends. And I love dogs. I have loads of interests… I love music… poetry.. rains… I love to laugh. Yes, even at myself….. I love to smile… I love life…. Living in itself is a natural high for me. I really treasure the simple things in life, because they are the only things that count at the end of the day.

I”ve always found myself at the intersection of business and technology. After a brief stint with an IT company, I completed my MBA in marketing. Post MBA, I worked as a Business Development Manager in an IT company in 2004. My entrepreneurial instinct, driven by an impulsive decision, made me to foray into my own business of software consulting. Today, I have diverse business interests including that of software consulting, media, interactive services, publications, e-business, etc. I’m trying to attempt my hand at a couple of other things as well. Though all of my business endeavours are still in nascent stage, some of them are well reputed in their niche segments.

A Computer Science graduate from JNV University, Jodhpur (Rajasthan) and armed with an MBA degree I did almost all of my schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya (Chabua – Assam, Srinagar – Jammu & Kashmir, Bagdogra – West Bengal, Guwahati – Assam).

Brought up in a disciplined culture of Defence Forces, I was born (at Barrackpore Cantt, West Bengal) as “Man Singh”, in a Kshatriya (Rajput) family of Bihar, before my mother rechristened me to “Sanjeev Singh”. My family lay a very strong emphasis on following the values, customs and traditions of the warrior class. I’m equally proud of my Bihari antecedent. We’re from a small village, on Indo-Nepal border, in East Champaran district.

Father retired from a fulfilling career in Indian Army. After his retirement, who I believe is now in the stage of self-actualization, is taking keen interest in agriculture…. Mother is a sweet home maker and my ideological guru…. Two younger brothers – Kunwar Ajit Singh and Kunwar Dhirendra Singh. Ajit is an entrepreneur and Dhirendra recently came to Bihar giving up his job as a senior engineer with a reputed engineering company.

Married to a traditional Chauhan girl from Bettiah (West Champaran, Bihar) whose unblemished Bhojpuri is always a great delight…

Having spent almost all my life outside the state (due to my father’s job in Indian Army), I’m back to Bihar working on various social development programmes as well as to see the smooth transfer of our businesses elsewhere in the country to Bihar. I’m here to be the change. I’m here to bring the change.

I’m writing this page from a remote village in Bihar that is not as technologically advanced as a metro in India. Nevertheless, I feel technologically enabled enough to serve my international business clients sitting here in the greens of my village.

This is a temporary site that I wish to populate as and when I get some time to pen down my thoughts. You can reach me at “s at sanjeevsingh.com”.

Thank you for reading…
